What is Genever?

Genever is Dutch for "juniper", but it is not Dutch gin. Genever or Jeneva is a predecessor to the style of gin that we know as London Dry Gin.  Made in Holland or Belgium, it is a blend of at least two distillates.  The first is a whiskey-like distillate made of corn, wheat and rye, also know as malt wine and the second is a juniper-infused distillate.  Traditionally, the base of Genever had a high percentage of first whisky-like distillate (15-50%), resulting in a clear spirit that had a similar weight on the palate and malty notes to whisky and...

The oils contained in Juniper berries can alleviate coughs by expelling the mucus in the throat and aiding lung congestion. The great thing about gin is that it can be mixed with many different herbs and ingredients such as ginger, which will help to soothe a sore throat.

What is a Japanese Yuzu?

Japanese Yuzu is an exotic citrus fruit, from the Rutaceae family.  It is about the size of a tangerine and mainly cultivated in Japan, Korea and China.  It is classed as a 'super food' as it contains three times as much vitamin C as lemons.  In addition the fragrance of this fruit is said to lower tensions, anxiety and depression.  It has a complex flavour with hints of mandarin, lemon and grapefruit. It is used as an ingredient in some of our tonic waters and mixers, but is also a great culinary ingredient.

There is now a gin containing Harley Davidson parts.

TRUE! Produced by an antique motorbike collector, Uwe Ehinger from Hamburg, Germany.  Uwe has produced the "world's first" gin containing engine parts from original Harley Davidson bikes.  The gin is call The Archaeologist. The Harley Davidson parts are bottled with a premium dry gin.  The parts are cleansed and sealed with a tin alloy to ensure the gin is safe for human consumption and then soldered onto a steel structure and encased in a handcrafted bottle.
